You may have recently heard some disturbing reports of dogs becoming ill or dying after using the heartworm preventative Trifexis. Unfortunately, the information that is being distributed on the internet, and even on TN is not providing consumers with the full story.

Your pet can get heartworms by the bite of an infected mosquito. There’s no other way they get heartworms. And there’s no way to tell if a mosquito is infected. That’s why prevention is so important. Most people only think of heartworms and prevention with dogs, but cats and ferrets are susceptible as well.

The most common external parasite found on pets, fleas can be a major problem for dogs, cats and the whole family. Not only are they visibly annoying, your pet can suffer from constant itching and scratching, hair loss, or even flea allergy dermatitis (FAD).

Easter lilies can be lethal to cats. Even if they just eat a small amount of the plant, it can quickly lead to kidney failure and death in as little as 18 hours. It’s best to keep Easter lilies and other lilies far away from your feline friends.
