I would consider a dermatologic condition where there is bacteria on the skin resulting in odor, crusting, scale and possibly pustules on the skin. These symptoms could be defined as pyoderma, or a skin infection due to bacteria.

A common allergic reaction we see in dogs is a chronic inflammatory response to environmental substances like grass, dust mites, and mold spores. This condition is termed “atopy”. Dogs are typically young when they display the first signs of atopy, usually less than 3 years of age. It’s that time of year where everyone is getting ready for trick or treaters. We go to the store and buy candy in hopes of seeing kids come to our door, or we take our children out in hopes of getting lots of candy! We need to remember many of the candies can be toxic to dogs. Chocolate is one of the culprits leading causes of toxicity for dogs at this time of year. According to Pet Poison Helpline they have a 12 percent increase of calls during the Halloween season.
Small Business of the Year Judges Visit Animal & Bird Hospital of Clearwater
The Animal & Bird Hospital of Clearwater is proud to be selected as a finalist in this year’s Small Business of the Year Awards by the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce. Recently the judges visited our Clearwater veterinary clinic to see firsthand what we do and hear from Dr. Murphy and the staff. They toured the entire animal hospital to see all of the vet services we offer and the type of care our patients receive. Afterwards everyone went next door to the Pet Resort and Grooming Salon where they were met by all of the furry guests from our doggie daycare.
