Therapeutic Laser Treatments
We are very excited about our new Class IV Therapeutic Laser and the wide range of benefits it offers our patients. Laser therapy is the only course of treatment that actually stimulates the body to heal from within. Therapy lasers use deep-penetrating light waves to stimulate cells to produce anti-inflammatory and other mediators which speed healing. The cells are then stimulated and respond with a higher rate of metabolism. This results in increased circulation from the body, an anti-inflammatory reaction, relief from pain and an acceleration of the healing process. Unlike surgical lasers, therapy lasers are “cold lasers” and generate very little heat. They do not burn the patient and are exceptionally safe.
Simply put, laser therapy provides relief. As the laser is administered, your pet will relax and enjoy it, much like you would experience a massage. The almost immediate relief of pain will allow your pet to be comfortable and any anxiety that your pet initially experienced will dissipate. Many cats will start to purr and most dogs will actually fall asleep during their therapy session. Although improvement is often seen after the first visit, most patients require several treatments for the greatest benefit. Our veterinarians and vet tech’s have been trained in Laser Therapy and we look forward to offering this revolutionary new technique for enhancing your pet’s quality of life.
Companion Therapy Laser has been Honored as One of the Best Veterinarian Products Available
Laser therapy is relatively new biotechnology that uses the science of photobiostimulation to speed healing. As the Companion Therapy Laser reaches an injured area, this interaction of light and tissue encourages the production of ATP inside the damaged cells. ATP production in the mitochondria of an injured cell begins the cascade of events necessary for healing such as collagen and enzyme production, cell growth, and increased blood flow. As our best friends age, recover from trauma or surgery, or simply need relief from everyday aches and pains, this advanced technology offers Drug-Free, Surgery-Fee, Pain-Free Relief. There are no known side-effects of Companion deep tissue laser therapy, as treatments are non-invasive. Depending on the injury, patients can find relief after only a few treatments!
The laser can be used for acute pain such as wounds, surgical incisions, intervertebral disc disease (back pain) or for chronic pain such as osteoarthritis and lick granulomas. Laser therapy can be used to decontaminate wounds and lacerations, treat chronic otitis, decrease inflammation or edema and can reduce healing time of fractures.
